Me & You

The world is not divided between East and West…

Legendary Persian poet, Rumi said: “I came to you without ‘me,’ so come to me without ‘you’.”

How design should be when you are living between two different worlds? Two different cultures with constant political confrontation. I designed this series of posters based on my personal experiences, contemporary events in my country, and the consequence of political conflicts in my real life. Critical posters with the theme of humanism. A religious regime and the crushing pressures from outside like sanctions have weakened human relations in my country for forty years. My family, friends and all ordinary people experiencing a lot of stress in their everyday lives. I know these hardships will not end soon in this crazy world, but as a designer, I design for a bright future. I would like to mention a quote from Iranian novelist Marjan Satrapi that I used in one of my posters: “The world is not divided between East and West. You are American, I am Iranian, we don’t know each other, but we talk together and we understand each other perfectly. The difference between you and your government is much bigger than the difference between you and me. And the difference between me and my government is much bigger than the difference between ME & YOU”
